Pediatric Center

The Pediatric Simulation Center has several simulators of varying ages and developmental stages. We have a Nursing Baby, which can be used for mastering assessments, caring interventions, and vital signs. Students find it challenging and rewarding to complete their assessments and vital signs on a baby that is crying. Sim Jr. is a high fidelity seven year old, who can be moulaged to have many differing pediatric disease processes with accompanying abnormal heart and lung sounds.

With a bit of creativity and “moulage” Sim Jr. can even experience a head injury as a result of falling off his bicycle with accompanying seizures.

We have two lifelike infant manikins, which are used for basic newborn care. Students, especially those with little or no experience handling and holding children, appreciate the opportunity to work with these manikins before going to their pediatric clinical experience.
